Below is a list of players that deserve a mention just because they chose to play with us.

We start with the Won Shot Wanderers All Stars Section.

The Won Shot Wanderers All Stars

The Won Shot Wanderers All Stars are the people that are worth an extra special mention because of the extra special gifts that they brought to the team, both on and off the pitch.

Gareth Copley

John Buckley - A founding member of the Wonshots.  He played for this team with passion and heart. He was the longest serving captain that we have ever seen.  He was a great loss, even playing with the Wonshots couldn't make him stay.  Sorely missed - thanks John for all your support, work and help over the years.

Chris Hogan - He was the founder of the Wonshots. He was the first manager, coach and Captain. Without him the Won Shot Wanderers would never exist.  It is because of this sort of person that a team can exist.

Paul Campbell - He was the Vice Manager for the team and our coach for two years.  He put in a lot of effort for this team and his attributes as one of the finest blockers we have ever seen will always be remembered.

Shea McCarthy - This guy was the longest standing member of the Won Shots.  Shea was with us since the inception of the team.  What kept him here was heart, soul, challenge and history. Our proudest and longest serving Captain

PLAYERS PAST

2005/2006

Jason Mc Cartney(Canada) Goal Keeper - Played the goals like his namesake played the guitar.  This guy was used to a puck made of  pure frozen rubber hurtling towards him.  NO FEAR.

Rob Casselman(Canada)A good player that liked his ruff and tumble.  Knee high to a grasshopper, and as big as Goliath.

Matt 'Houdini' Hassen(Canada)This guy got out of tackles on the field impossible for others to escape, add to this his disappearing act and you get the nickname.

Paul Anderton(England) Great player when he wasn't needing the toilet and/or falling over his own feet after 10 minutes. Injury prone - no just liked it on the bench.

Daniel Read(England) The laziest player the Won Shots ever saw but also a player with an amazing gift.  Those blond locks are missed

Mike Cavada(America) Came back after a guy on a crap team in Busan broke his leg for him.  Last seen playing for a crap team in Daegu.

Ricardo Da Silva(Portugal) A great player who was reminiscent of Ronaldo for Man Utd.  Always moaning and falling when he should've been playing and scoring.

Lewis Eckersley(England) Lost him to a watch tower somewhere in Korea. Now happily married and not recieving Christmas gifts.

Frans Alojoki(Canada) A wonderful player who was greatly appreciated by players and supporters.

Matt Scanlon(Australia) A truck of a player who knew how to have a laugh.  Last news he was trying to get Duke out of his bed back in Australia.

2004/2005

Darren Hogan(Ireland) A quiet man who let his feet and his stamina do the talking on the football pitch.

Quin Roney(Canada) Returned to the game after a decade away. Speed and athletic skill made up for a lack of experience.

Kevin Simmons(Barbados) He had never say die attitude and a steep learning curve that opposing strikers found hard to deal with. It is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

Trey Watson(America) Good player who could hold his own and a lovely hairdo also. Last seen losing his possesions in Thailand whilst wearing winkle pickers.

Igor Pletchenko(Belarussian) A massive man who really summed up the largness of our team during 2004/5. He was a giant and he was a very athletic one who moved very fast.  The goal post in Daegu is still bent out of shape after getting in the way of his powerful shot - all agreed that he had the fastest/hardest shot they had ever seen a football player have.

Dave Anjema(Canada) A big man with a big kick.  His free kicks kept us us in the game a great number of times.  Wonderful work.

John Sheen(Canada) Captain and sweeper.  John was tall with a head of pubic hair.  He was one of the best sweepers that we ever had.  At just over six feet tall he was fast and fit.  We miss his amazing uses for spandex.

Coman Duke(Ireland) His Royal Burlyness was a brave warrior for the Won Shots.  Often seen charging down loose balls and other players in a mad cheek blowing tantrum.

Matt Symes(Canada)  Starting the game from no experience he cut himself a huge role to fill in the Central Midfield role - we'll be hard pressed to find another such hard working midfielder in this team.

Matt "Jericho" Wurdeman(America) Goal Keeper - A keeper with great flair and hair.  Matt was an excellent addition to the team and between broken bones from birds did a fine job in keeping the goals out.

Mike Shaefer(America) Wore out his welcome in the Tucson Metro Soccer League so he came to Korea to risk a crippling injury on the football pitch.  Words can't describe what this guy was capable of.  Napolean would be proud of this guy and Wellington would try to poach him.

J.P. Murray(Canada)  Had an eye for the girls and for the game. Shame that sometimes the two collided on a Sunday morning.

Jesse Wright(America)  Strikingly handsome, and an all round good guy.  He learned the beautiful game the hard way. He has taken back what he has gained and there will be more converts to the beautiful game in America as a result.

Owen Pearson(England)  Loyal Ipswich supporter - shame on him.  Our only left footer and played well when he could get out of his/her bed.

Niall Mc Govern(Ireland) The man with the big kick. Brought a real presence to the pitch with his training gaelic football.

Matt Mc Ateer(Ireland)  He was one of the hardest working members on the team.  His efforts have never been forgotten.

Steve Higgins(England) He was a good all rounder. He would play almost any position and do well in it.  He was fast and fit.  The gap left by him was large and the team scrambled to replace him.

James Morgan(England(caps27-goals2)  An English Gentleman, an  English  Lion.  His  skills in defence were second to none.  Unfortunately he headed to the Hall of Fame too soon for us.

2002/2003

Rich Whelan(Ireland) (caps32-goals14) Skillful visionary who never missed a penalty

South African Johnny(Korea) (caps6) Western girls and miltary service destroyed a promising career

Gerry McGurk(Scotland) (caps20-goals5) Will be remembered  by many  as an amazing dribbler of a ball but will never be forgotten by most for the day he hit the tree in Busan against Real Busan.

Barry O Leary(Ireland) (caps30-goals22) Rated by many as the best player. Jointly managed WSW with John Buckley after Gary Connors departure. And did  so alone after Buckley left.

2003 Player of the Year.

Wes Meller(England) Goal Keeper (caps24) Kept us in the chase on many a day.

Fin Madden(Ireland) (caps14)

Alex Bright(New Zealand) (caps3)

Sabrina Thorold(Tazmania) (caps15) Epitomised the Wonshot spirit. Always gave us an added edge against opponents as firstly they were surprised to see a girl on our team and secondly shocked at how she played and tackled.

Peter "Bullet" Dooley(Ireland) (caps10-Goals0 Own goals1) 2003 Blooper of the Year.

Nicholai Thompson(New Zealand) (caps10-goals1) We never saw enough of him.

Dan Barham(Canada) (caps8) Good defender for a non-soccer player.

Mike(Polish-Canadian) (caps15) Great left foot.

Greg Comerford(Australian) (caps22) Became an absolute rock in that defence. Heroics in the

Busan Cup. One guy who is in regular Wonshot contact.

"Soju" Kevin Rivers(Canadian) (caps16) Small in size, big on hair and heart.

Neil "cheeky beers" Brown(England) (caps26) Voted most improved player in 2003 and a great

favorite with all the wonshots both on and off the pitch. Part of Wonshot folklore.

Henry Navas (El Salvador/Australia) (goals2) All round nice guy and great player. One of the most dedicated the Wonshots has ever had.

Dom Adams(New Zealand) (caps12) Would have been many more but for cursed ankles.

Gary Connors(Ireland) (caps34-goals5-own goals4) Took over as manager from Chris Hogan and kept WSW alive and kicking thereafter. Player of Year in 2002 .

Brian "Jimmy the Legend" Martin(Ireland) (caps22-goals2) Loved the bed as well in the early days.

2002

Russ Taylor(Australia) Goalkeeper (caps9-goals0)

Kieran Breheny(Ireland) (caps9-goals0) - A great man for the bed

Dean Holdsworth(England) (caps6)

Korean Lee(Korea) (caps8) Very helpful with mini buses etc. for games.

Dane Kieran(Dublin) (caps15) No nonsense. Another who never took prisoners

Ronan Burke(Dublin) (caps15)

Greg Dickson(Scotland) Goalkeeper (caps16) - A Won Shot to the core.  He would stand in front of an articulated truck to save his goal. Never took any prisoners.

Terry from Derry" Scullion(Irish) (caps9-goals3) - Didn't play that often but when he did he sure played.

Kurt Courtney(Northern Irish) (caps9-goals3) - A hardman in the true sense of the word. Added real steel to the set-up. Dodgy hamstrings curtailed his appearances.

Ronan Nagle(Ireland) (caps8) - A fine player with a very interesting WS career. Came as a World

Cup guest, then prolonged a stay in Australia and on his return to Ireland via Ulsan once again ably assisted the Wonshots in our noble cause.

Matt(Australia) (Caps12) - Stout hearted defender who never left us down. (500 bottles of red wineDown Under ?the whole team will be there soon with corkscrews in hand).
